COURSES AND TRAINING

1. EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE TECHNICIAN COURSE
The one year course is intended for candidates from all walks of life barring age, creed and sex with an objective to prepare a team of qualified competent professionals and non-professionals to provide high quality pre- hospital care to enable them to function as ambulance technician.

The course curriculum was developed by ANGELS core committee.

Course Objectives:
Prepare a team of qualified competent professionalsto provide high quality pre- hospital care.

Main Features of the Course:
This course includes theory and practical classes on Human anatomy and physiology, Basiclife support, Basic trauma life support, Trauma care, First aid, Self protection, Disinfection, Communication skill, human relation skill, Helmet care, Computer experience, Leadership quality, Aptitudes and commitments. This course is designed as six weeks intensive training and followed by exposure to practical field. On successful completion of this course the candidates will be awarded with the certificate approved by the district administration, Indian Medical Association,George Washington University,Emergency Medicine, MIMS hospital Calicut, Indian Institute of Emergency Medical Services (IIEMS) Kottayam.

Well planned and closely monitored learning experiences will be provided in class rooms, hospitals and ambulances by qualified and experienced faculty from George Washington University, MIMS and IIEMS. Examinations both in theory and practical will be conducted on completion of six weeks intensive training and at the end of the course by the board of examination. Internal assessment will be done periodically. Dr P.P Venugopal, Head of Emergency Medicine is the chairman of the board of studies and board of examination for the course.

Eligibility:
Boys who have passed higher secondary or its equivalent course are eligible to apply. However, preference will be given to candidates with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects .Age limit between 17 and 25.

Scope:
On successfulcompletion of course candidates are eligible to function as emergency medical care technician in ambulance. This offers opportunity for advanced higher studies. There are jobopportunities inside and outside the country.

Attested copies of following documents should be submitted with application

1. Proof of date of birth.
2. Mark list of qualifying examination.
3. Cash receipt.

Criteria for Selection:
Preliminary list will be prepared on the basis of merit and final selection after conducting personal interview. Original certificates should be produced at the time of interview.
